Hand Rejuvenation
As we age, the skin on our hands can change just as much as the skin on our face, resulting in thinner, sagging skin and an increased visibility of the tendons and veins. Many people are bothered by the appearance of aging hands and seek treatment to counteract these changes for fuller and healthier-looking hands. Hand rejuvenation is a restorative treatment that combines skin fillers such as Sculptra® and Radiesse® with laser treatment to replace lost volume and improve the overall appearance of the hand.
This treatment is ideal for patients who are self-conscious about the appearance of their aging hands and seeking to smooth the skin and once again feel confident about their appearance. It is important for patients to maintain realistic expectations about treatment in order to achieve successful results.
During hand rejuvenation treatment, the skin of the hand is first injected with a biocompatible filler that stimulates collagen production and thickens the skin, making tendons and veins less visible. Desired results can usually be achieved after a series of two to three treatments spaced six weeks apart. Laser treatment works with the filler to improve the texture of the skin while also removing sun spots and other unwanted blemishes. A series of four laser treatments spaced a month apart can help patients see significant results.
The results of hand rejuvenation are visible right away and will continue to improve as swelling and any other side effects subside. The results of this procedure usually last for a few years, but do not make the hands immune to further effects of aging. However, it will help the hands appear younger than they would if no treatment had been performed at all. Hand rejuvenation is considered safe for most patients with only a minimal risk of side effects.
